Facilitating 26 Education Changemakers in Asia

This post was first published about a year ago on LinkedIn.

Welcoming 26 incredible changemakers committed to addressing educational inequality in Asia to the ChangemakerXchange community!

Two weeks ago, I had the honor of facilitating a summit for a group of individuals who are not only inspiring but also doing urgent and impactful work.

Some are empowering girls’ education in Afghanistan, supporting Rohingya refugee children in Bangladesh, assisting street children in Indonesia, accompanying children with autism in India, advocating for educational access for stateless children in Malaysia, and providing education for human trafficking survivors in Vietnam, among many others.

Seeing their dedication to supporting their communities and their care for one another during the summit truly strengthened me. These past few days, witnessing those who genuinely care and take meaningful action for others has brought a unique sense of peace.

Additionally, this summit was filled with warm and enjoyable moments.

We started with an exciting evening, sharing our favorite songs and snacks we brought from home. The Open Space session sparked lively discussions and enriched perspectives. We also dialogued about the meaning of well-being for changemakers.

We explored the potential for cross-border collaboration, mutually strengthening and expanding each other’s impact. We enjoyed the reflective Changemaking River activity by the river, savored delicious vegetarian Mookata, and concluded with a talent show showcasing each person’s uniqueness.

Looking back, it’s incredible how, in just five days, this experience could feel relaxed, mentally stimulating, and emotionally strengthening all at once. I sincerely hope we can meet again and continue what has begun to grow here.
